Ave Maria is a collection of Western hymns and chants in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This album includes Gregorian chant, hymns of the Divine Office, and various other Marian antiphons, canticles, and songs from the Orthodox West.
 
The title Ave Maria comes from the ancient prayer to our Blessed Mother:
 
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
