Just as the Lord has punctuated the sky with stars, and the fields with flowers, and the years with seasons, so has he punctuated the seasons themselves with feast days, that by this distinction made from the daily services, the holy solemnities may lead slothful characters, at least for a time, willingly back to prayer, and idle minds may by these annual feasts make themselves ready for the Lord. – St. Paulinus of Nola (+431)
The walking out of our Orthodox faith is rooted in the liturgical calendar. We created this wall calendar in the hopes that it will be a useful tool for more deeply embedding the seasonal rhythms of the Church into our daily lives and parish culture.
The calendar includes all feast days and the commemorations of major saints. Fasting and Abstinence days are marked with the same symbols used in the Ordo. Each calendar month is paired with beautiful, seasonally-themed artwork and quotes from the Church Fathers. The St. Patrick Orthodox Church version also includes all of our service times throughout the year, these have been removed from the general Western Rite version.
